Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #141- For A Man Or Boy
Hello, today sees the start of a new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and more. This fortnights host is Vania and she would like to see your creations for a Man or Boy.
For my card I chose to make a card for someone to give to their Handyman Father. I started my card by making the tools, and for this I used the 'Tool' mask by That Special Touch. I used the mask to draw through and cut out the tools. I then inked the tool shapes with Versamark ink and heat embossed with silver powder. I then traced the tool shapes again with a fine liner and added some hand drawn details to them, before colouring them with Copics. I then cut out the detailed parts of the tools and overlaid them on top of the embossed ones before adding some Glossy Accents.
The sheet metal effect background was made by running some black card through the 'Heavy Duty' embossing folder from Couture Creations. I then covered the whole surface with some silver gilding wax. My wax had started to dry up in the tub, so I added a tiny amount of Spectrum Noir Pencil Blending Solution, which revitalized the wax. I also found that this made the was blend more evenly over the surface of the card too.
The brickwork layer was made with a stencil from Dutch Doobadoo and some of Pamellia Johnson's homemade texture paste. I then coloured this with some water colour paints.
The woodwork was made with PVA glue, 'Brushed Corduroy' and Walnut Stain' Distress inks and an EB7 Spectrum Noir marker I then cut the panel into strips and added to the card in different lengths to achieve a patched look. I also used a silver gel pen to add the effect of small nails.
The stencils Dad was done with the 'Schoolhouse Alphabet' by Tim Holtz, a Ranger embossing pen and some Black Distress embossing powder onto some more brick background. I then cut out around the brick and layered onto the card with 3D Foam.
The stamped sentiment is from Hobby Art's 'Sentiments' clear stamp set.
I hope you like my interpretation of this fortnights theme and please stop by my fellow Team mates blogs to check out their gorgeous projects.
I would also like to enter this card into the following challenge: Anything But Cute- Make It Masculine
Thanks for stopping by.
