Birthday Butterflies

Hi, today I have a card to share with you that uses some butterfly stamps from Hobby Arts 'Butterflies' stamp set.  I have stamped the butterflies onto Vellum with Versamark ink and embossed them with 'Winter Wonderland' embossing powder from Stampendous. I then coloured the back of the butterflies with 'Dusty Concord' Distress Ink, cut them out and layered them for some dimension.
For each of the backgrounds I have started with a base background that I made with 'Dusty Concorde', 'Bundled Sage' and 'Antique Linen' Distress Inks and some Pearl Mica Spray.
For the large background layer I ran the card through a butterfly design embossing folder by Crafts- Too. I then applied some more 'Dusty Concorde' Ink over the raised butterflies, before outlining them with a Quickie Glue Pen and adding some Silver Gilding Flakes.
The strip background was made by applying some Versamark Ink through Tim Holtz's 'Flourish' stencil then adding some 'Winter Wonderland' embossing powder. I finished this panel by adding some more silver gilding flakes around the edges.
For the sentiment panel I stamped one of the Flourish stamps from Hobby Arts 'Flourishes stamp set with 'Bundled Sage' Distress ink around the sentiment but it is quite hard to see in this photo. The sentiment is from the 'Birthday Collection' stamp set from Hobby Art and has been stamped with 'Dusty Concorde' Distress Ink. I also added a frame of silver gilding flakes.
The purple card that I used for my layering was made with just the 'Dusty Concorde' Distress Ink and the Pearl Mica spray, then I stamped the same flourish stamp and 'Dusty Concorde' Distress Ink for a bit of detail.
I finished the card with some clear gems and green ribbon organza ribbon from my stash.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

I hope you like my card, I really enjoyed making this one and thanks for taking the time to stop by.
              Sally

  9. Wonderful card Sally! I love your idea of using a quickie glue pen on the raised embossing and then gilding it, it looks so effective. Your butterflies look lovely, I hoping to have a go at that technique soon. Debra x
