Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #182- Add Some Texture
Hello, today sees the start of the new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers. Maike is hosting this fortnights challenge and her chosen theme is 'Add Some Texture'
I based my card around a Butterfly embossing folder from Crafts- Too that I have had for a couple of years now, but only used the once.
I stared by running some Crafter's Companion water colour card through the embossing folder. I then coloured the background with 'Yellow Ochre', 'Dioxazine Purple' and 'Sap Green' Winsor and Newton Cotman water colours.
I then applied some Do Crafts Crackle Medium and Blanc Acrylic paint to create the crackle effect. When this was dry I ran the card back through the embossing folder to make the butterfly's stand out more.I then applied some 'Platinum' Inca Gold over the butterfly's along with some purple paint splatters.
For the main focus panel I again ran some water colour card through the embossing folder and used the paints to create a lighter coloured background. I then painted the embossed shapes of the butterfly's in the various colours and added detail with a brown colour that I mixed by combining the yellow and purple paints. I finished by adding some white gel pen accents, more paint splatters and Inka Gold to the butterfly's.
I heat embossed the Hobby Art 'Happy Birthday' sentiment with 'Queen's Gold' embossing powder from ranger and also created a background with the paints. I added hessian for layering and some chunky glitter (which my camera does not like- hence the bad photo) to finish my card.
I hope you like my card and please check out my fellow DT's blogs as they have made some wonderful projects.
Thanks for taking the time to visit.
